Though you might say; “I have a friend who is an ultrasound technician and did not study, but instead learned on the job.”  Although it is true that some ultrasound technicians obtained their job through work experience, employers no longer want to hire this type of employee.  Their reasoning is that ultrasound technicians are now working with higher technology, and in many different fields of medicine.  In each of these fields the sonography machines differ and the scanning requires different procedures.
